Trae Patton/NBCThe new season of The Voice kicks off this Monday night, and returning coach Gwen Stefani is super-psyched about her team’s mentor: none other than Celine Dion.
“She is like, the ultimate person that you would want to be on there,” Gwen tells Entertainment Tonight. “She is so unique…Every song she puts out is a world song, she speaks to the world and that’s a whole other level [than just], ‘Oh I made it as a pop star in America.’”
Gwen added that Celine has been “massive since she was 13 years old, so having her on the show was incredible.”
While Celine no doubt has great advice for the young contestants of The Voice, she told ET specifically what advice she’d give to her younger self, with the wisdom of past experience: “Be yourself and don’t be in competition with the world, be in competition with yourself.”
The Canadian icon then added, “And don’t hold on to just one dream, because if you don’t make it, are you going to tell me that this is the end of your life?… Life is more than a song, baby!”
